New beginnings – an Easter resurrection of my blogging habit

I am aware I haven’t blogged as me just being me in quite a while now. Those things I have blogged since arriving in Cornwall have almost all been sermons, and even then there have been large gaps until my recent Resurrection Triptych posts (parts 1, 2 & 3). A friend of mine recently re-launched his blogging habit have a long hiatus and this reminded me that I really needed to get back to a more frequent pattern of blogging.

Much of the reason for stopping was simply being over-taken by how busy life was. There is, or feels like there is, so much to do in this new life of mine that blogging ended up taking up not just a back seat but a seat at the bus stop while the vehicle headed off elsewhere. But as the first six, now seven, months have gone by since I arrived here in Cornwall have gone by one of the things I have slowly realised is that I can only fulfill this calling if I am truly me – as well as being as truly Christ-like as I can as well!

Of course, one of the challenges of on-going formation is to work out which parts of one’s being and doing are truly you, and which are the parts which you only think are you! I have come to the decision that being online, that tweeting, and facebooking (oh dear, turning a proper noun into a verb – not good!), and blogging, is part of me, and my call, and what I’m trying to be and do. So, I’m re-starting. Not as my friend did, by starting a completely new blog, but by taking up a commitment to get back to blogging in a consistent and frequent way.

Many people nowadays choose to give up something or take up something for Lent. It’s a good practice. Me? I’m retaking something up – I’m going to commit to blogging something, hopefully not just anything, every day of the Easter Season. That’s 50 days (well, 49 as I didn’t blog on Easter Day, although I have now blogged 3 Easter Day related posts). Some of it will be reflections on what I’m up to, some of it may well be sermons, some of it may well be liturgy, some of it will be reflections and comments on web content I’ve engaged with recently.

I’ll also be doing some work on the blog – maybe setting a new theme, certainly getting my blog-roll up-to-date.
